Mirolyut - a synthetic derivative of prostaglandin E1. It induces contraction of smooth muscle fibers of myometrium and expansion of the cervix. The ability of Misoprostol (the active ingredient of the drug Mirolut) to stimulate uterine contractions facilitates the opening of the cervix and the removal of the contents of the uterine cavity.
The drug has a weak stimulating effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract. Misoprostol in high doses inhibits the secretion of gastric juice.
Miroljut has no clinically significant effect on the level of prolactin, gonadotropins, TSH, STH, T4, cortisol, creatinine, platelet aggregation, lung function, and the state of the cardiovascular system.
Composition
Misoprostol + excipients.
Pharmacokinetics
When administered orally, it is quickly absorbed. Simultaneous reception with food reduces the bioavailability of misoprostol (fatty foods significantly reduce absorption without affecting the duration of absorption). Do not cumulate. Metabolised in the gastrointestinal tract and liver to the pharmacologically active diesterified metabolite - misoprostol acid. It is excreted mainly through the digestive tract and kidneys (less than 1%).
Indications
- interruption of pregnancy in early periods (up to 42 days amenorrhea) in combination with mifepristone (medical abortion).

Before the appointment of misoprostol, the patient should be informed in detail about the effect and possible side effects of the drug. The patient should be observed in the conditions of the medical institution for 4-6 hours before taking the drug. During and after taking the drug, the patient should receive timely medical attention in the event of massive bleeding or other complications. After taking the drug in patients, as a rule, there is a slight vaginal bleeding, in some cases, prolonged. At very early gestation, abortion is possible after taking mifepristone, but in this case, it is also necessary to take misoprostol tablets to optimize the results of medical abortion. After taking misoprostol in about 80% of women, abortion occurs within 6 hours and about 10% of women within 1 week. Patients should be re-examined in the same treatment facility 8-15 days after the drug is administered. If necessary, an ultrasound or a level of chorionic gonadotropin in the blood serum should be performed. If there is a suspicion of incomplete abortion or pregnancy, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive medical examination in a timely manner.
In case of incomplete abortion or continuing pregnancy, estimated on the 10-14th day after taking mifepristone, it is necessary to carry out vacuum-masking followed by a histological examination of the aspirate with an assessment of the effect of the drug on the formation of congenital malformations in the fetus.
