Analogues of Tussin in the presence of existing structural analogs. Use to treat cough, including dry colds, flu and ARVI in adults, children, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.Composition of the preparation.

Tussin - mucolytic and expectorant, reduces the viscosity of phlegm, facilitates its removal and promotes the transition of non-productive cough to productive. The duration of action for a single admission is 3.5-4 hours.

Guaifenesin has an expectorant effect due to increased secretion of liquid components of bronchial mucus, depolymerization of acid mucopolysaccharides, increased activity of ciliated epithelium.

Dextromethorphan suppresses excessively intense afferent impulses from the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, increases the cough threshold, reducing the intensity of dry irritating cough. Dextromethorphan is a D-isomer of levofanol, it is close to codeine by the force of action, but it does not possess analgesic properties, does not inhibit the respiratory center and the activity of the ciliary epithelium. The duration of the antitussive action is 5-6 hours.

Composition

Guaifenesin + excipients (Tussin).

Guaifenesin + Dextromethorphan hydrobromide + excipients (Tussin Plus).

Pharmacokinetics

Guaifenesin is quickly absorbed from the digestive tract (after 25-30 minutes after ingestion). Penetrates into tissues containing acidic mucopolysaccharides.Metabolised in the liver. It is excreted by the lungs (with phlegm) and by the kidneys in the form of inactive metabolites.

Dextromethorphan is rapidly absorbed into the digestive tract and its effect begins to manifest after 15-30 minutes. Dextromethorphan is metabolized, primarily, by liver enzymes, undergoing O-demethylation, N-demethylation and partial binding to glucuronic acid and sulfates. In humans, (+) - 3-hydroxy-r4-methylmorphinan, (+) - 3-hydroxymorphine and traces of the non-metabolized drug can be detected in the urine after oral administration.

It is possible to stain the urine pink.

The results of the determination of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid in urine (with the use of nitrosonaphthol reagent) can be falsely inflated due to the influence of guaifenesin metabolites on color (gwayfenesin should be discontinued 48 hours before urine collection for this test).

Guaifenesin and its metabolites can cause a discolouration in the determination of vanillylmandelic acid in the urine and falsely elevate the test results with it on catechins (taking guaifenesin should be discontinued 48 hours before urine collection for this test).

Tussin Plus is supplied with a dispensing cup with 1 TSP = 1 teaspoon = 5 ml.

Tussin received plus on the recommendation of a doctor, when she got very cold and started a dry nasty cough. His taste is sweet and unpleasant for me. I can not stand this smell now. Took a few days, cough passed. But that's what surprised me, so after taking the medicine there was such a feeling of vatness, the body was heavy, lightheaded and nauseous.
