Catadolone - instructions for use, reviews, analogs and forms of release (capsules 100 mg, tablets 400 mg prolonged forte or retard) drugs for the treatment and relief of pain in adults, children and pregnancy
In this article, you can read the instructions for using the drug Catadolon. There are reviews of visitors to the site - consumers of this medication, as well as opinions of doctors of experts on the use of the Cataladon in their practice. A big request is to actively add their feedback on the drug: the medicine helped or did not help get rid of the disease, which were observed complications and side effects, possibly not declared by the manufacturer in the annotation. Analogues of the Catadolone in the presence of existing structural analogues. Use to treat and arrest pain in adults, children, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.
Catadolon an analgesic of central action. It is a selective activator of neuronal potassium channels. Does not apply to opioids, does not cause addiction and addiction.
Has analgesic, miorelaxing and neuroprotective effect, based on indirect antagonism against NMDA receptors, activation of descending mechanisms of pain modulation and GABA -ergic processes.
In therapeutic concentrations, flupirtine does not bind to alpha1, alpha2-adrenoreceptors, serotonin 5HT1, 5HT2 receptors, dopamine, benzodiazepine, opioid, central m-and n-choline receptors.
Antispastic action on muscles is associated with blocking the transmission of excitation to motoneurons and intermediate neurons, leading to the removal of muscle tension. This action flupirtina manifests itself in many chronic diseases, accompanied by painful muscle spasms (musculoskeletal pain in the neck and back, arthropathy, tension headaches, fibromyalgia).
Due to neuroprotective properties it protects nervous structures from the toxic effect of high concentrations of intracellular calcium ions,with the ability of flupirtine to cause blockade of neuronal ionic calcium channels and to reduce the intracellular current of calcium ions.
Composition
Flupirtine maleate + excipients.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration almost completely (up to 90%) and quickly absorbed from the digestive tract. It is mainly excreted by the kidneys (69%): 27% is unchanged, 28% is metabolite M1 (acetyl metabolite), 12% is metabolite M2 (para-fluorohypuric acid), and the remaining one consists of several metabolites with an unclear structure. A small part of the dose is excreted from the body with bile and feces.
Indications
Acute and chronic pain syndrome with the following diseases and conditions:
- muscular spasm;
- malignant neoplasms;
- primary algodismenorea;
- headache;
- post-traumatic pain;
- dorsalgia;
- cervicalgia;
- myalgia;
- pain in traumatological / orthopedic operations and interventions.
Forms of release
Capsules 100 mg.
Long-acting tablets 400 mg forte or retard.
Instructions for use and dosing regimen
Capsules
Inside, not liquid and squeezed a small amount of liquid (100 ml).
Adults: 1 capsule 3-4 times a day with equal intervals between doses.At the expressed pains - on 2 capsule 3 times a day. The maximum daily dose is 600 mg (6 capsules).
Doses are selected depending on the intensity of pain and individual sensitivity of the patient to the drug.
The duration of therapy is determined by the attending physician and depends on the dynamics of the pain syndrome and tolerability. With prolonged use, the activity of liver enzymes should be monitored in order to identify early symptoms of hepatotoxicity.
Pills
Inside, without liquid and squeezed a small amount of liquid (100 ml), 1 tablet 1 time per day. The maximum daily dose is 400 mg.
If the pain continues to disturb, it is necessary to consider the question of additional therapy with other analgesics. The duration of therapy is determined by the attending physician and depends on the dynamics of the pain syndrome and tolerability.
During treatment, it is necessary to regularly monitor the activity of hepatic enzymes in the blood serum and the concentration of creatinine in the urine.

- children and adolescents under 18;
- hypersensitivity to flupirtine.
Application in pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
If it is necessary to use during the lactation period, the question of stopping breastfeeding during the treatment period should be solved, since It is shown that a small amount of flupirtine is excreted in breast milk.
special instructions
Use with caution for violations of the liver and / or kidney function, patients older than 65 years. Patients of these groups require a correction of the dosing regimen.
Side effects are mostly dose dependent. In many cases, they disappear by themselves as the therapy is conducted or after the end of treatment.
In the treatment of Catadolone, false positive test results with diagnostic strips for bilirubin, urobilinogen and protein in the urine are possible. A similar reaction is possible with a quantitative determination of the level of bilirubin in the blood plasma.
When used in high doses, in some cases, the color of urine can be marked green, which is not a clinical sign of any pathology.
Patients with impaired liver or kidney function should monitor the activity of liver enzymes and creatinine in the urine.
With the simultaneous use of Catadolone with drugs that are also metabolized in the liver, regular monitoring of hepatic enzyme activity is required.
Combined use of flupirtine and drugs containing Paracetamol and Carbamazepine should be avoided.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms
Given that flupirtine can weaken attention and slow down the body's response, it is recommended that during treatment, the drug should refrain from driving and practicing potentially dangerous activities that require a high concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
Drug Interactions
Flupirtine enhances the action of sedatives, muscle relaxants, as well as ethanol.
Due to the fact that the catalodolon binds to blood plasma proteins, one should take into account the possibility of its displacement from the connection with proteins by other concurrently taken drugs. At the same time, it has been shown that flupirtine displaces Warfarin and Diazepam from its bonds with proteins, which, when taken concurrently with flupirtine, can lead to an increase in their activity.
With the simultaneous use of flupirtine and coumarin derivatives, an increase in anticoagulant effect is possible.
