Mexidol - instructions for use, analogs, reviews and release forms (125 mg tablets, injections (in ampoules) 5%) of the drug for the treatment of encephalopathies, head injury and other brain disorders in adults, children and pregnancy
In this article, you can read the instructions for using the drug Mexidol. Comments of visitors of the site - consumers of this medication, as well as opinions of doctors of specialists on the use of Mexidol in their practice are presented. A big request is to actively add their feedback on the drug: the medicine helped or did not help get rid of the disease, which were observed complications and side effects, possibly not declared by the manufacturer in the annotation. Analogues of Mexidol in the presence of existing structural analogues. The use for the treatment of encephalopathies of various genesis, craniocerebral trauma, asthenic conditions and many other brain disorders in adults, children, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.
Mexidol antioxidant drug.
Mexidol is an inhibitor of free radical processes, a membrane protector. It has antihypoxic, antistress, nootropic, anticonvulsant and anxiolytic effects. The drug increases the resistance of the body to the effects of various damaging factors (shock, hypoxia and ischemia, cerebral circulation disorders, alcohol intoxication and antipsychotic agents / neuroleptics).
The mechanism of action of Mexidol is due to its antioxidant, antihypoxic and membrane-protective action. The drug inhibits lipid peroxidation, increases the activity of superoxide dismutase, increases the "lipid-protein" ratio, reduces the viscosity of the membrane, and increases its fluidity. Mexidol modulates the activity of membrane-bound enzymes (calcium-independent phosphodiesterase, adenylate cyclase, acetylcholinesterase), receptor complexes (benzodiazepine, GABA, acetylcholine),which enhances their ability to bind to ligands, contributes to the preservation of the structural and functional organization of biomembranes, the transport of neurotransmitters and the improvement of synaptic transmission. Meksidol increases the content in the brain of dopamine. It causes an increase in compensatory activation of aerobic glycolysis and a decrease in the degree of inhibition of oxidative processes in the Krebs cycle under conditions of hypoxia with an increase in the content of ATP and creatine phosphate, activation of the energy-synthesizing functions of mitochondria, and stabilization of cell membranes.
The drug improves the metabolism and blood supply of the brain, improves microcirculation and rheological properties of blood, reduces platelet aggregation. Stabilizes the membrane structures of blood cells (erythrocytes and platelets) during hemolysis. Has hypolipidemic action, reduces the content of total cholesterol and LDL.
Anti-stress action is manifested in the normalization of post-stress behavior, somato-vegetative disorders, restoration of sleep-wake cycles, disrupted learning and memory processes, reduction of dystrophic and morphological changes indifferent structures of the brain.
Mexidol has a pronounced antitoxic effect on withdrawal symptoms. Eliminates neurologic and neurotoxic manifestations of acute alcohol intoxication, restores behavioral disorders, autonomic functions, and is also capable of removing cognitive impairments caused by prolonged intake of ethanol and its cancellation. Under the influence of Mexidol, the effect of tranquilizing, neuroleptic, antidepressant, hypnotics and anticonvulsants is enhanced, which helps to reduce their doses and reduce side effects.
Pharmacokinetics
After taking the drug inside at doses of 400-500 mg quickly absorbed. Quickly distributed in organs and tissues. It is quickly excreted in the urine mainly in the form of metabolites and in a small amount - unchanged. The most intense withdrawal within the first 4 hours after taking the drug.
