Zirtek - antiallergic drug. The blocker of histamine H1 receptors, a competitive histamine antagonist, a metabolite of hydroxyzine. Prevents development and facilitates the course of allergic reactions, has antipruritic and antiexudative action.

Affects the early histamine-dependent stage of allergic reactions, limits the release of inflammatory mediators in the late stage of the allergic reaction, reduces the migration of eosinophils, neutrophils and basophils, stabilizes the membranes of mast cells. Reduces the permeability of capillaries, prevents the development of edema of tissues, relieves spasm of smooth muscles. Eliminates the skin reaction to the administration of histamine, specific allergens, and also to cooling (with "cold" urticaria). Reduces histamine-induced bronchoconstriction in bronchial asthma of mild course.

Virtually no anticholinergic and antiserotonin action. In therapeutic doses, it practically does not have a sedative effect.

After a single dose of Cetirizine at a dose of 10 mg, the onset of the effect is observed after 20 minutes (in 50% of patients) and after 60 minutes (in 95% of patients), the effect lasts more than 24 hours. Against the background of course treatment, tolerance to antihistamine action of cetirizine does not develop. After cessation of treatment, the effect lasts up to 3 days.

Pharmacokinetics

After ingestion, the drug is quickly and completely absorbed from the digestive tract. The intake of the drug with food does not affect the amount of absorption. When taking the drug at a dose of 10 mg for 10 days cumulation of cetirizine is not observed. Approximately 2/3 of the dose is excreted by the kidneys unchanged.

Zirtek or Zodak (this is one and the same) is certainly a good medicine, which helps very well from, in our case, atopic dermatitis in my son was given. But if the active ingredient Cetirizine is the same, then why can not you take the usual Cetirizine in the pharmacy, which is 5 times cheaper than the foreign Zirtek at a price. What was done by me and what I do not regret, because it helps the domestic drug is not worse than imported, and the budget is saved.

I'm sorry of course, but Zirtek and Zodak are not the same. Zirtek is the original drug, and Zodak generic on its basis. And despite the fact that they are considered analogs - they are different. Original drugs are better. There is a concept of bioequivalence, the point is that the generic is not bioequivalent to the original. All clinical studies were conducted according to the original, and not on a copy. The generic may have different isomerism, different auxiliary substances in the composition, hence different pharmacokinetics, etc. In any case, the original is better studied!
And then as for cetirizine, it's like in the case of nosh and drohotertin, for example, for me drhotertine does not help itself in any way, but yes-yes!

I also agree with Ariel that there are a lot of analogues of medicines for active active substance, but I myself repeatedly convinced that generics, very often act not equal to the original, so I prefer the original. And the fact that the medicine worked well, it only proves that even the generic works well, what to say about the original. I, for one, are very pleased with Zirtek, because, by the will of fate, I often suffer from allergies.

A good medicine and it does not matter how many at it now analogs and help they to whom or not. Always carry a zirtek in my purse. I'm allergic to egg powder and citrus fruits and no matter how hard I try, but still meet with these products, I'll eat a bun with chemistry or with zest and all just swell and start swelling, and my eyes become numb, I'll immediately drink the tablet as soon as I feel something I do not even know what I would have done without him.

I give Zirtek his little son, he suffers from an allergy. Generics prefer not to give the child, so as not to save on his health. The original drug is produced according to strict standards, proven auxiliary substances are used, the necessary studies were carried out on it. Zirtek completely suits me, quickly removes allergy attacks, did not observe drowsiness in the child.

Only Zirtek! None of the analogs has such an effect.
I apply for all kinds of allergy. There is no addiction. The effect after 15-20 minutes. I give it to my children from birth according to the calculation 1 drop per 2 kg of weight. I took it during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, when the body itself could not cope with the attacks. Unlike other drugs, it is effective and completely eliminated from the body. Sedation has no effect at all.
