Silibinin - a means of plant origin. The main is the hepatoprotective effect. Flavolignans, which are part of the fruits of Milk thistle (the main active ingredient of Silibinin) including silybin, dehydrosilibin, isosilibin, silymarin, dehydrosilimarin, silichristine, tasifolin stabilize lysosomal and cell membranes, preventing the exit from the cells of enzymes. Interact with free radicals and inhibit the processes of lipid peroxidation. Due to the antioxidant effect, the penetration of various toxins into the liver cells (including chlorinated hydrocarbons, alpha-amanitine pale toadstool, nitrosamines) is inhibited. Silibin, silymarin and their derivatives stimulate specific RNA polymerase A, as a result of which the synthesis of proteins and phospholipids in hepatocytes is activated, the processes of regeneration and detoxification in the liver are accelerated. Normalization of metabolic processes is facilitated by tocopherols, macro- (potassium, magnesium) and trace elements (copper, selenium) contained in the thistle fruits. In fatty fruit (20-34%) contains a large number of unsaturated fatty acids (including linoleic - 50-62%),which have oxidation-reduction properties, promote the oxidation of cholesterol and, together with beta-sitosterol, the prevention of atherosclerosis. Polysaccharides of mucus (5%) have an enveloping and gastroprotective effect. The nitrogen-containing compound betaine improves the process of digestion, bile in the liver. Fruits of thistle have a lactogenic effect.

Extract of fruits of milk thistle spotted + auxiliary substances.

Pharmacokinetics

When ingested absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is low and slow (the half-absorption period is 2.2 hours), is metabolized in the liver by conjugation, the half-life is 6 hours. It is excreted mainly with bile in the form of glucuronides and sulfates. Do not cum in the body. After repeated oral administration, a stable release of bile is achieved. There is enterohepatic circulation.
