Regidron - a preparation for correction of energy and electrolyte balance.

Restores the water-electrolyte balance, disturbed by dehydration; corrects the acidosis.

The osmolality of the Regidron solution is 260 mOsm / l, and the pH is 8.2.

Regigran osmolality is somewhat lower compared to standard solutions for oral rehydration recommended by WHO (the effectiveness of solutions for rehydration with reduced osmolality is well established), the sodium concentration is also lower (to prevent the development of hypernatremia), and the potassium content is higher (for a faster recovery of the potassium level ).

Composition

Sodium chloride + sodium citrate + potassium chloride + dextrose.

Indications

  • restoration of water-electrolyte balance, correction of acidosis in acute diarrhea (including cholera), with thermal lesions associated with disturbances in water-electrolyte metabolism; for the purpose of prophylaxis - thermal and physical loads, leading to intense sweating;
  • rehydration oral therapy for acute diarrhea with mild (weight loss is 3-5%) or average (weight loss - 6-10%) degree of dehydration.

Forms of release

Powder for solution for oral administration (in the form of bags of aluminum foil).

Do not add any other ingredients to the solution in order not to disrupt the effect of the drug.

Before starting treatment, the patient should be weighed to assess weight loss and the degree of dehydration.

Nutrition or breastfeeding should not be interrupted during oral rehydration therapy or should be continued immediately after rehydration. It is recommended to avoid foods rich in fats and simple carbohydrates.

To prevent dehydration, you should start taking Regidron as soon as diarrhea has started.Usually the drug is used no more than 3-4 days, treatment stops with the end of diarrhea.

With nausea or vomiting, it is advisable to give the solution in chilled form in small repeated doses. You can also use a nasogastric tube under the supervision of a doctor.

For rehydration, Regidron is taken within the first 6-10 hours in an amount that is twice the body weight loss caused by diarrhea. For example, if the body weight loss is 400 g, the amount of Regidron is 800 g or 8.0 dl. During this phase of treatment, the use of other fluids is not required.

Do not exceed recommended doses of the drug if the need for additional electrolyte administration is not confirmed by laboratory tests.

A packet of the drug Regidron dissolve in 1 liter of water. If the recommended volume is given too concentrated solution, the patient may develop hypernatremia.

Do not add sugar to the solution. Food can be given immediately after rehydration. When vomiting should wait 10 minutes and give a drink slowly, in small sips. Patients in whom dehydration has developed against renal failure, diabetes mellitus, or other chronic diseases in which the acid-base, electrolyte or carbohydrate balance is disturbed, careful monitoring is required when performing therapy with Regidron.

When using Regidron, a doctor should be consulted in the following cases: speech delay, rapid fatigue, drowsiness, the patient does not answer questions, fever above 39 ° C, stopping urine output, the appearance of liquid bloody stools, diarrhea lasting more than 5 days, sudden discontinuation diarrhea and the appearance of severe pain, if treatment at home is inefficient and impossible.

With the flu, the doctor advised to bottle out the baby (3 years old) with a regedron, because at the temperature a lot of fluid and salts are lost through sweat and so simple and inexpensive means can be used to prevent dehydration. The child really dried up before our eyes, and after we started hourly in small portions to strip it out with a rehydrone somehow freshened up and the disease soon retreated, so that the root of the main problems and treatment from illnesses in the body itself, and our goal is only to help him.

By the way, hospitals also give you to drink rehydron in dysentery, when a lot of fluid and salts are lost.
