Composition of the preparation.

Sulfargin - a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent, sulfonamide. Has a bactericidal effect.

The drug is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Staphylococcus, Klebsiella spp. (Klebsiella)), and Candida spp. (candida) and dermatophytes.

The bactericidal properties of the Sulfargin ointment are due to the activity of silver ions, which are released in the wound as a result of the dissociation of the silver sulfadiazine salt; the release of silver ions occurs gradually (moderate dissociation), ensuring a constant antimicrobial effect. The bactericidal activity of silver ions is supplemented by the bacteriostatic effect of sulfadiazine (also released during the dissociation of the silver sulfadiazine salt).

Sulfargin is characterized by moderate osmotic activity and does not possess necrolytic properties.

With external application of the ointment, it is possible to absorb up to 1% silver ions and up to 10% sulfadiazine from the total amount of sulfadiazine silver salt applied to the wound from a burned or wound surface.
