Composition of the preparation.

Solkagin - a drug for topical treatment of benign lesions of the superficial tissues of the cervix uteri.

When applying the drug, there is a different effect on different types of cervical epithelium. When the preparation is applied to the ectopic cylindrical epithelium (cervical ectopia and the transformation zone) and subepithelial stroma (cervical erosion), their immediate devitalization and fixation takes place. On the other hand, the multilayered cellular structures of the flat epithelium of the vaginal part of the cervix and the vaginal mucosa, which are more resistant to Solkovagin's effects, remain virtually intact. Devitalization and fixation of altered tissue occurs within a few minutes and is accompanied by the appearance of yellowish-white or gray staining of the tissue. This phenomenon can not be classified as the cauterizing effect of acids in the usual presentation, since the devitalized (necrotic) epithelium remains in place in the initial phase and forms a protective layer, which exfoliates in a few days due to the spontaneous growth under it of new cells of the flat epithelium.
