In this article, you can read the instructions for using the drug Epigenes. Presented are reviews of visitors to the site - consumers of this medication, as well as opinions of physicians specialists on the use of Epigen in their practice. A big request is to actively add their feedback on the drug: the medicine helped or did not help get rid of the disease, which were observed complications and side effects, possibly not declared by the manufacturer in the annotation. Analogues of Epigen in the presence of existing structural analogues. Use to treat simple and genital herpes,thrush or candidiasis in adult men and women, children, as well as during pregnancy and lactation. Composition of the preparation.
Epigenes - an antiviral agent for external and topical use. Glycyrrhizic acid is active against DNA and RNA-containing viruses, including various strains of the viruses Herpes simplex, Varicella zoster, human papillomaviruses, cytomegaloviruses. Antiviral action is associated, apparently, with the induction of the formation of interferon. Interrupts the replication of viruses in the early stages, causes the virion to emerge from the capsid, thereby preventing its penetration into the cells. This is due to selective dose-dependent inhibition of phosphorylating kinase P. It interacts with virus structures, changing the different phases of the viral cycle, which is accompanied by irreversible inactivation of virus particles (in a free state outside cells), blocking the introduction of active viral particles through the cell membrane inside the cell, viruses to the synthesis of new structural components.
Inhibits viruses in concentrations that are non-toxic to normally functioning cells.
The virus strains resistant to Acyclovir and iodo-uridine are highly sensitive to glycyrrhizic acid.
It also has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and tissue regeneration-improving effect, both with early manifestations of viral infection and with ulcer forms.
Composition
Glycyrrhizic acid is activated + auxiliary substances.
Pharmacokinetics
With external and local application, activated glycyrrhizic acid accumulates in the lesions. Systemic absorption is extremely slow, therefore in biological fluids, activated glycyrrhizic acid is practically not detected.
Indications
- treatment of infections of genital organs caused by the Herpes simplex type 2 virus (both in acute primary and in recurrent course);
- treatment of skin infections caused by the Varicella zoster virus (as part of combination therapy);
- treatment of skin and mucous membrane infections caused by human papillomavirus;
- treatment of nonspecific vaginitis, colpitis;
- prevention of common viral infections transmitted sexually;
- treatment and prevention of lesions of the lips, mucous membranes and skin in the mouth and nose with the Herpes simplex virus (including those accompanied by dryness, ulceration, cracks).
Forms of release
Spray for topical and topical application 0.1% (Epigen Intimate or intimate spray).
Cream for topical and topical application 0.1% (Epigen Labial, sometimes mistakenly called a gel).
Other dosage forms, whether it be ointment, soap or aerosol, at the time of drug description in the directory did not exist.
Instructions for use and how to use them
Spray
Intravaginal, external and intraurethral. Before use, the can should be shaken and kept in an upright position when used.
When applied externally, the drug is applied to the entire affected area from a distance of 4-5 cm by 1-2 valve pressures, which is the optimal therapeutic dose.
For intravaginal application of the drug is attached a special nozzle. It is a hollow tube 7 cm long, one end of which has a sprayer, and at the other end is a valve. Remove the valve from the spray bottle and put on the nozzle valve. Then the nozzle is inserted into the vagina in the position of the patient lying on the back.
Intravaginally, the drug is injected by 1-2 clicks of the nozzle, which is the optimal therapeutic dose.
After application it is necessary to remain in the prone position for 5-10 minutes. When used by men, in addition to external application, the drug is injected into the external opening of the urethra by 1-2 pressures of the valve of the atomizer.
With papillomavirus infection:
- before the removal of genital warts - 3 times a day for the entire period of etiotropic therapy;
- against the background of destruction - 5 times a day for 10 days and more until healing;
- to prevent immediate relapse - 3 times a day for 1 month.
For the prevention of the progression of papillomavirus infection: before and after intercourse, as well as in the event of provoking factors - stress, overfatigue, acute respiratory viral infection, microflora disorders, antibiotics, cytotoxic agents - 3 times a day intravaginally and externally for the entire period of exposure to provoking factors.
When skin infection is caused by the herpes simplex virus (including with herpes zoster): 6 times a day on the lesion lesion for 5 days. If the infectious process persists, the treatment period is prolonged until the symptoms disappear completely.
With genital herpes and with cytomegalovirus infection: 5 times a day for 14 days externally and intravaginally, after relapse relief - outwardly and intravaginally 3 times a day for 10 days.
In order to prevent recurrence of genital herpes and cytomegalovirus infection: externally and intravaginally from the 18-20 day of the menstrual cycle until the end of menstruation 2 times a day in the morning and in the evening.
With nonspecific colpitis, bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis: intravaginally 3-4 times a day for 7-10 days. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 10 days. When there are provoking factors - ARVI, antibiotics, cytostatics - 3 times a day intravaginally and externally for the entire period of exposure to provoking factors.
At the phenomena of discomfort in the field of genital organs, accompanied by itching, burning and dryness, incl. when ovarian function is inadequate and after intercourse: 2 times a day (morning and evening) for 2-3 weeks. To prevent conditions of discomfort, use regularly after intercourse.
As a preventive antiviral drug is recommended to use the drug before and after sexual intercourse.
Cream
Locally, externally.
Apply a thin layer of the cream without rubbing on the affected skin and mucous membrane 3-5 times a day for 3 days.If necessary, the course of treatment is continued until the symptoms of the disease completely disappear.
Side effect
- allergic reactions.
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to glycyrrhizic acid.
Application in pregnancy and lactation
The use during pregnancy and during lactation is possible by absolute indications.
In experimental studies, embryotoxic and teratogenic effects of glycyrrhizic acid have not been established.
Use in children
There is insufficient clinical data for the use of the drug Epigen in this age group.
special instructions
In the treatment of skin infections caused by the Varicella zoster virus, the external use of glycyrrhizic acid should be combined with the intake of specific antiviral drugs.
During the treatment period it is not recommended to use inducers of Interferon synthesis.
If signs of irritation of the skin or mucous membranes appear, treatment should be discontinued.
Drug Interactions
With the simultaneous use of glycyrrhizic acid with other antiviral drugs (acyclovir, iodoridine, interferon), potentiation of antiviral action is noted.
During the course of treatment of a viral infection by the drug, the use of interferonogens is not recommended.
