Analogues of Argosulfan in the presence of existing structural analogs.Use for the treatment of burns, bedsores, trophic ulcers in adults, children, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.
Argosulfan - a preparation with antibacterial action for external use.
It promotes healing of wounds (burns, trophic, purulent), provides effective protection of wounds from infection, shortens the treatment time and the time of preparation of the wound for skin transplantation, in many cases leads to an improvement that excludes the need for transplantation.
Sulfonilamide-sulfatiazole, which is part of the cream, is an antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The mechanism of antimicrobial action of sulfatiazole - inhibition of growth and multiplication of microbes - is associated with a competitive antagonism with paraaminobenzoic acid and inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which leads to a disruption in the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid and, ultimately, its active metabolite, tetrahydrofolic acid, necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines of the microbial cell .The silver ions present in the preparation enhance the antibacterial action of Sulfanilamide - they inhibit the growth and division of bacteria by binding to the deoxyribonucleic acid of the microbial cell. In addition, silver ions weaken the sensitizing properties of sulfonamide.
Due to minimal resorption, the drug does not have a toxic effect.
Composition
Sulfatiazole silver + auxiliary substances.
Pharmacokinetics
The silver sulfatiazole contained in the preparation has a low solubility, which results in the concentration of the active substance in the wound being maintained at the same level after topical application. Only a small amount of silver sulfatiazole appears in the bloodstream, after which it is acetylated in the liver. In the urine is in the form of inactive metabolites and partially unchanged. The absorption of silver sulfatiazole increases after application on extensive wound surfaces.
Indications
- burns of all degrees of any etiology (including thermal, solar, chemical, electric current, radiation);
- frostbite;
- purulent wounds;
- minor domestic injuries (cuts, abrasions);
- infected dermatitis, simple contact dermatitis, impetigo, microbial eczema, streptostafilodermia;
- pressure sores;
- trophic ulcers of the lower leg of various genesis (including for chronic venous insufficiency, obliterating endarteritis, angiopathy in diabetes mellitus, erysipelas).

Instructions for use and how to use them
The drug is used topically as an open method, and in the form of occlusive dressings.
After cleansing and surgical treatment with the observance of sterility conditions on the wound, the preparation is applied with a layer 2-3 mm thick 2-3 times a day. The wound should be covered with cream during treatment. If part of the wound opens, you need to apply the cream additionally.
The cream is applied until the wound is fully healed or until the skin is transplanted.
If, as a result of the application of the cream to infected wounds, exudate appears, before the repeated application of the cream, the wound should be rinsed with 0.1% aqueous Chlorhexidine solution or other antiseptic.
The maximum daily dose is 25 g. The maximum duration of treatment is 60 days.
Side effect
- allergic reactions;
- local reactions (burning, itching, skin hyperemia);
- leukopenia, desquamatous dermatitis (with prolonged use).
Contraindications
- congenital insufficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- prematurity, breast age up to 2 months (due to the risk of developing "nuclear" jaundice);
- hypersensitivity to sulfatiazol and other sulfonamides.
Application in pregnancy and lactation
The use of Argosulfan in pregnancy and lactation is possible only in cases where the surface of the burn does not exceed 20% of the surface of the body, and the intended benefit for the mother is greater than the possible risk to the fetus / child.
Use in children
Contraindicated in preterm and infants up to 2 months of age (due to the risk of developing "nuclear" jaundice).
special instructions
For hepatic and / or renal insufficiency, the concentration of sulfatiazol in serum should be monitored.
Caution should be given to patients who are in a state of shock, with extensive burns due to the impossibility of collecting a full allergological anamnesis.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and manage mechanisms
The drug does not limit the psychophysical ability, the ability to drive vehicles and maintain machinery in motion.
Drug Interactions
It is not recommended to be used concomitantly with other local medicines.
Folic acid and its structural analogues can weaken the antimicrobial action of sulfatiazole.
